If neither infiltration nor reuse is deemed viable, controlled discharge emerges as another potential option, contributing to the overall water availability. Surface water bodies do have the capacity to accommodate such discharge in terms of pollution levels; however, adherence to local and national regulations is important, and the implementer needs to be familiar with the local discharge restriction and monitoring requirements.
